Winged Masters Special this time driven by Herb Spivey, who unfortunately was
killed on the front stretch in a terrible crash, driving a late model sportsman, 1971...

For as much as all these (2x4) cars were alike, no two were identical. Paint jobs, Number styles, sponsors, and drivers changed car to car.
I’m amazed how many of these cars were built in a short period of time in a backyard garage. There are at least two more of these. A 34 Ford sedan Im working on now, and another Model A bodied 2x4, both driver by Tommie Rowe.
Can’t get the computer generated decals perfect, but in this case close is good enough.
I only saw one 2x4 race back when I was very young. Bill Shaw (“Wild Bill”) was the driver . |
