Google is a bit of a wash. Please post reference photos of the Monte Carlo's. I have some upgrade parts in mind and I want to get them right. Thanks in advance for the help. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

Thanks to Crime Dog for pics of Monte Carlos @ Riverside, and even Richard Petty's car ( the last pic in Dog's post ) at the Winston West race at Phoenix, either in 1978 ( where he actually ended his winless streak ) or in 1980. Notice that King's car had a reverse paint scheme, with mostly blue sides ??? |

…...Earnhardt and DW (eventual race winner) at the 1979 ARCA 200.
That's Donnie Allison on the pole, Jody Ridley beside him and BA in the AMC.

I don't know WHERE I got Cecil Gordon from, the caption to this one says Woody Elmo?
You know what it is? I was so mad at Petty for dropping the Magnum I missed watching most of the 78 and 79 seasons. Now I'm wishing I'd paid more attention to the Monte's back then but I was raised in a Dodge house. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

I think Petty had wrecked his car and borrowed this one from Gray for this one race while his was being repaired. |

That would explain the paint scheme. Is this one a 75 or 76 style? I'd kind of like to do Woody's car. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

The yellow and blue colors were the colors Fisher brought when he was supposed to drive the car and Gray just kept using them on throught 79,80 and in the early 80s |

Best look at the fender flares on those Petty cars. I also notice from earlier to later, the Yarborough Monte's had a much smaller flare. I'm going to mark flare size down as proportional to the size track being run, yes? It just stands to reason the faster the track, the more body travel up and down, the bigger the flares. I'm working out right now how to do the flares for my tutorial. Oddly enough I've never done this style of flaring before. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." | I have a set of those. I must say despite not having separated base and top coatings, the print quality and registration are spot on. I'm just glad you're not called "PennTeller" decals, I'd be afraid of them disappearing five minutes after I apply them, only to reappear on a giant playing card inside a melon. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model."
