The reissued kits (even the Baker kit issued in the mid '70s) have some tooling modifications. The original is by far the best to build.

I've had non-Tamiya masking tape do that to Tamiya paint. I suspect they use an alcohol-based adhesive and the alcohol attacks the lacquer paint.

There really isn't one, unless you buy a can of touch-up paint from someplace that mixes actual auto paint in spray cans. Closest off the shelf match is Chevy Engine Orange.
