Another new guy question. Does anyone know of a good source for decals for the Pearson Nichels 71 Pontiac? The best I could find is some laser printed ones on Ebay and I'm not sure how well they are going to work. |

Check with Mikes decals I think he had the Red #17 if you want the purple 17 or the #33 like in the original kit I know several have been done I have the #33 from Goochie they are out of business and I have the #17 STP car I do not remember who did it though. |

Cherry Run did a nice sheet. I think it covered all number/color options. Also, Dave Romero did a very nice screen-printed version of the purple #33.

I want to say Dave Van produced a set for the red 17 car under his Penngwen brand name. Maybe Dave can chime-in here and provide the link to his Fotki page that lists his entire line of decals with prices.
There has been some speculation as to what the roof numbers on the red 17 car look like. No good pics have surfaced showing those numbers definitively. The 2 "best" pics I've seen only show a small fraction of the numbers and the best thing I can say is that the number has a heavy black border around it.
I've seen iterations of a lot of best-guesstmates that range from an all-white number with the heavy black border, to two-tone grey/ white numbers mimicking the door numbers and two-tone grey/ red numbers in a similar style.
Too bad from a modeling perspective if you're concerned with accuracy, but it also works to your advantage in that whatever choice you make, no one can dispute it as being wrong since they would lack the evidence to prove their point.
So I hope your project gets completed. Please post pics for us all to see. This is one of my favorite cars.
Stay calm and keep modeling!

Thanks for the info guys. I did IM with Dave who does not currently have a set for this car. I keep scouring ebay, Mikes etc hoping to find a set. At this point I'd be willing to paint it as the 33 or 17, depends if I find some decent decals. If not I'll use these.
As a kid this was my favorite kit, the see thru one. A few years ago I found a street model 72 on a clearance bin locally and thought I could do something with it. I got the body pretty well ready and moved the back wheel wells like the Nichels car, then it sat till I could figure out the frame and cage. I started the Bobby Allison Monte a few weeks ago and found the chassis and interior tub will work with just some minor trimming. So now the project is finally off the ground! |
