Sounds like they are testing the waters to see if there is any interest in their fading name.
Guess they figure to try and cash out while there is still some value to their holdings.

I read it as well. The Frances have not been the best stewards of the sport for the past 15 years or so, but things could get worse. A rumor circulating is that Marcus Smith is interested in buying NASCAR. He is Bruton Smith's son. I do not see anything positive if the Smith family buys NASCAR.

Bruton Smith DOES know how to PROMOTE -- something I find lacking in the current scheme of things. Neutral Speedway Motorsports also owns half the tracks NASCAR runs on.

We may have to agree to disagree on this one. I find a number of the problems NASCAR is dealing with is because of Bruton Smith.

Bruton has always wanted NASCAR. Bet Bill Sr rolling over in his grave. However this is pretty common that third generation owners do not have the passion to keep a business going since usually they did not have the sweat & blood in the business first and second generations owners do.

Bill, you are correct about the third generation owners. We will never know because we can't see what the alternative would have been, but Brian was always the anointed one to take over after France, Jr. However, I think Lesa might have been the better choice. She, as we know, runs ISC and has a passion for track design. She may have had the passion to run NASCAR better than Brian has. I will always remember Brian very early on in his tenure stating he will not run the sport for as long as his father and grandfather. After reading that comment, it always seemed to me that he had one foot out the door.
