Hi all.
The very 80's glazed C pillar.
The Nascar teams, what were they actually doing with this?
Painting the C pillar black or forming the rear screen around it into the side windows? Just like the AMT Country Time kit. |

| IMHO the Monogram OLDS is much more correct. The C pillar had the glass wrap over most of it with a thin metal between the side and rear glass.....which most often was black to blend in with the glass edges that were black. AMT no C pillar just looks wrong to me. |

Hi. Thanks. I've always thought on these kit differences, what was actually correct.
Am prepping the Mono Olds now, so am going to practice laying black decal on the C & B pillars before body painting, try and find a correct pattern.
As for a Sunoco blue, a lot of recommendations on here so i've found this basic GM Blue.
For a GM body, use what's in the race shop's supply chain perhaps? Even on the T-Bird!

Thanks. I was considering this too.
The blue on the decals, such a small amount to bother about a perfect 'purple tint' colour match. |

I think it depended on the team and the year. The rear window and quarter window were never done in one piece but I'm pretty sure I've seen '88-'89 cars (possibly Busch Series cars) where both pieces of Lexan laid on top of a fully covered piece of bodywork. Might have depended on who got funding from Oldsmobile too. For instance, this photo of Moroso's Busch Series car from '89 appears to show the side piece and the rear piece meeting with a bead of silicone caulk sealing the gap.
