Just finished this, the #01 Army Monte Carlo from 2004.

With the soldier salute hood from the May Coca Cola 600.

Paint is a RAL Signal Black aerosol. And great JWTBM decals.

After 20 years I thought that these large pieces may rip, but no.

The side windows were cut free from the one piece screen, to fit from the outside. So not to scrape the decals.

No clearcoat on this. Decals are by Cartograph, but just did not want a dissolving disaster!

And on the roof rails, where I make the join for the decals.

With this flashlight photo, you can just see the difference of this Signal Black paint and the Graphite Black of the Miller car which has a subtle brown tint. There is equal red and blue in this Signal paint. 2,2,0,83 is it's CMYK code. The Graphite Black is 9,5,0,83.

And here it's almost purple tint, with the green tint of the NATO Black wheel.

Point of all this? So my black cars do subtly have shade differences and do have an individual 'look' when viewed from several feet away.

Excellent job! As an Army Vet, I always liked the Army sponsored cars.

Thanks all for comments.

And the decals, not many Cartograph choices for this shape of Monte', but if you see some of their schemes you're unsure of, I suggest to buy them anyways.

It's what I did.Their quality will overcome any doubts.

These decals are in Mike's at $6 now. I bought mine at $12. Pah!

Very nice! I have these decals in my stash, and considered using them on my only '04 MC that I have. I may go with the JWTBM Home Depot '04 sheet I have also.

I appreciate your use of (and explanation of) the different blacks used on the build. I love that kind of nuance in colors, and you can really see it in the photos! Very Happy

Many thanks. It's great to be building NASCAR's again and improving a little on each build.

Thank you. I always find black painted model kits too stark.

Am also considering a 'cool black' paint. A hint of blue only, I feel would suit cars with majority white or blue lettering. #3 Goodwrench for example.

Very impressed with the build - all aspects of it! Thanks for the advice on how these JWBTM sets are holding up. Those decals went down very well.
