Haven't done a W.I.P. in a while but I've been wanting to do this one for a while and try some new things in the process. This is the first time I've made my own roof rails. Normally, I'll take a 1991 body, sand down the headlight panel, and give it the 1988 bumpers but that's left me with a bunch of spare body parts over the years. I also cut the oil tank from a junk chassis and cut a hole in the 80s Laughlin (GM kit) chassis. The deck panel is from an '83 T-Bird kit.

That's an interesting photo you've posted of the interior of Young Russell's Pontiac. Makes it look like the grey tone of the interior paint is a touch darker than normal. Here's a shot I have showing a similar result:

OK, so that last photo made me think of something I hadn't before. The B-posts on the Monogram Pontiacs are way too narrow so I figured I'd remedy that. Also added some tabs under the hood similar to the ones on the early 2000s Revell kits.

Roll cage padded and started assembly. Also cut a piece from an '81 Pontiac grill for the duct in front of the oil cooler.

Nice work so far, the Pontiacs are a fun car and look great when done. |

I never get tired of those old Monogram kits, and admiring work like yours. I like how you duplicated the seat and head rest. What did you use for roll bar padding? |

Hello Razorback. That car looks amazing. I am glad that Dave Van bumped the showroom post - I have the same build planned and hope that it turns out 1/2 as good as yours! Thanks for sharing.
I know that you used a Rustoleum green, but I couldn't make out which one. Is it Hunter or Meadow green (or something else which we may not have down here in paint-starved Australia)? |
