|
|
Hey guys, I've been slowly getting back to artwork and printing after my (second) shoulder surgery. Sucks getting old
Here are a bunch of new sheets. A few things, I know some of these have been done. I've had some of those done for a while but couldn't print them while I was recovering. Those and most of the other new sheets were requests.
Also, Some of the sheets slightly differ from these preview pictures. I've made some changes to get the sheets correct. Some have been tweaked and I've added some missing graphics from some of them.
I don't know how the tail panels and taillights are to use on the Salvino kits since I haven't built one, but these can be challenging. Although, I guess if you are using any of my Mustang sheets, you already have a kit and I suppose you can use the kit supplied decals.
The 21 sheet can do either the DEX or Motorcraft car. Sorry, the numbers are not foil.
All sheets are complete and ready to print. There is a big batch going to Mike's Decals and or you can get them directly from me.
Anyway, let me know what you think. More coming.

Good stuff!
Is the #6 Carbon Neutral a 2022 or a 2023? _________________ << On The Bench --- 2022 Elliott Hooters |

2022. I haven't seen a 2023 version. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to modify the 2022 to the 2023. Do you have a picture?

Looking good! That Summit scheme is really nice. I will remember this sheet if/when I pick up a '23 Mustang kit. NNLE maybe?.. |

I like that scheme as well. That's why I decided to do it. I'm sure it won't be super popular, but I don't mind doing not so popular drivers and schemes.
I'll be at NNLE as well.

These are nice and looks like a lot of work to do them!
If I may ask, what is the process in making the decals actually fit the model cars? For example, the 21 car has pin stripes, and some of the others as well that go over compound curves. Are these copied from another set of decals, or do you do something analog to get these to lay correctly? Do you have the car data to work with, how do you go about that for each graphic?
Curious.... |

Yes, decals and artwork are a lot of work. Some schemes are easier than others. The stripes were done analog in a graphics program. They were a lot of work and trial and error. I start creating a basic graphic, and then adjusted them by printing and test fitting on the body. Nothing is copied from other decals, unless I've done something similar on a sheet in the past. I have no car data, I wish I did . Clay Kemp has helped me out with some things. Basic templates for bodies are made with masking tape, but they are nowhere near perfect, and there is still a lot of tweaking and adjusting to make decals fit correctly. Basic graphics are much easier. The 21 car and the Wendy's car were the most difficult sheets in this batch.

mprmprmpr, thanks for the great reply. I understand all that you are doing and am actually surprised you go through this much trouble for this artwork which has a limited amount of buyers!
Just as an aside, I was responsible for a clay model of the current Mustang to be built, full size when we did the work at Roush. From the adjustable armature to adding the wood base volumes, then gluing light foam (think the floral foam only not as porous), mill back that foam, packing clay and milling the clay to the data provided. We did the complete project in CAD first to ensure the ridiculous timeframe could be adhered to. Anyway, once the clay was milled, we slicked the surfaces, added dinoc (like a wrap) in silver and black for the windows. Some simple headlamp and taillamp graphics and load it on the trailer at 6am to head to Charlotte for the evenings festivities!
Was a fun project and met all deliverables while being on time AND on budget!
I wanna get one of those Salvinos Mustangs, but not sure which graphics to put on it. Kind of like the "simple" 21 car and the classic look.
Or just paint it with clay colored brown paint
Cheers! |
