I actually just brush on future clear to the tread area and then dab on cigarette ashes while it still wet, I repeat this process a few times until I get an even look then seal it all in by airbrushing on a flat coat of lacquer
I was having a hard time sanding these salvinos tires so I had to do it a different way lol |

Looking good! Nice tip for tire scuffing. I'll have to save some cigar ashes. _________________ Forum member since 10/25/2010 |

I wonder if pipe ashes would work? Like @Henryjent, I enjoy a good cigar too! _________________ "Many men fish all their lives without knowing it is not the fish they are after." Henry David Thoreau

Those coil overs, gauges and seat look real, did you massage them or is that direct from the kit? +1 on the excellent scuff on the tires too. I like the position locator tape on the steering wheel, great detail! |

This build is really looking good! Great tips on the tires. A person can also sand down an old Nascar tire and use the sanded material the same way. Good stuff, James. _________________ Short Track racing....Ya gotta love it.
