WIP 34 Ford resin body(Bigdonkey)
Frame is from an AMT 34 Ford (but hightly modified!!).
Like to use a rear end from a Monogram Grand National.
But don't have anymore. This one is from an AMT 60 Ford.
Those white add ons will be shock mounts.
Scratch built front end, using a spring & spindals from an MPC modified.
Ron Coon resin rims were to deep for the resin rear tires, so used a razor saw
& removed most of it. Then super glued what was remaining ro the rear end.
The rims that come with the MPC modified are way to modern for early 60's stuff,
so removed the center of the rim & used what was left for the outer rim for the rear.
It's a good fit & makes painting the rims two tone a snap!!!
I use most anything round & small for the steering box. Have to use some imagination
on these models.
Typical interior using lots of evergreen plastic. Still more to add
This modified ran a Buick nailhead engine. Had one in the junk box. removed (most of)
the old paint, and it will live again!!
It's coming together !!!

Wow, thats way too kool, and its great modeling, love to see people use their imagination.
You WIPs and finished builds are loads of fun, and that after all is what modeling is all about.
Kudos to you for doing just that, and thanks for sharing the fun! |

I do have to ask, what is the origin of those 1:1 steering boxes, im totally unfamiliar with them in any way shape or form.

most of these early modified cars used something off an old truck.
Don't know but I'm sure there was one in particular they liked.
Richard Petty liked a steering box from a 57 Lincoln !!!
You can see the steering box in this picture. Really heavy looking
Then they had to work the hearders around the box.
Most models don't even have the steering box, but I like to add something,
even if it's not quite accurate. |

yes not looking for 100% accuracy. That would take all the fun out of doing one of these. As long as it looks good when I'm done, that"s the most important part to me. |

added a few more roll bars. these 1960 era cars kind of had the bare minimum
