Am I the only one who thinks we need a scale LMS stock car kit?
Maybe someone with a JR Salvinos connection could put a bug in their ear.

I second that!

Check out Jay's Stock Cars on Etsy! He just released a 3d kit of the "Sundrop" Camaro that Earnhardt Jr drove at North Wilkesboro

Maybe I'm a little biased since I'm a big short track fan, but I think these model companies are missing out by not producing short track content like Late Models. Look how in demand the old Revell ASA kits are just so people can use the chassis.

Its about the only racing I attend on a regular basis.
With the new National touring series announced this week at Nashville, I think it will continue to grow.
I went to several CRA events this year, and other than the Red Bud, it was close racing all through the year.
Fun stuff indeed, I'd think they might be interested in the exposure. If the cars got kitted, I'd think the aftermarket decal people would step up and produce at least some of the regular drivers. I'd think that the sales would be awesome.
I'll tell ya after the next Powerball drawing if I can personally underwrite the project.🤭

I would be interested in the late models of the 60's & 70's.
But fairly easy to build.
This is Georgia driver Eddie McDonald, who ran modified & late models as well
as the yearly race at Daytona (Permatex 300).

Here is one Eldon Yarbrough drove in the mid 60's
at Colombia Speedway & other area tracks in the Carolinias,

Here is another Yarbrough late model of the same era.

here is a photo of the model under construction using an amt 56 Ford & monogram rollbars
plus Evergreen rod for the roll cage.

I like the vintage late model era. Lost interest when Camero bodies began to be used.

Saw Bobby Allison drive this one at the Beltsville, Md. speedway around 1971...

If I want to build a LMS car right now using AMT's Modified Stocker '65 Chevelle body, what model kit chassis of the past or present would be suitable and accurate?

I use frames from the monogram grand National kits .
Back in the day late model builders liked to use frames from a 57 Chevy.
If a late model started life as a 55/56/57 Chevy &
Needed new sheet medal, a 64/65 Chevelle body was a good fit.

The model I posted I think is one of those modified stocker bodies. Did fill in the wheel wells (they were cut to wide in the original model).

Have to make lots of “adjustments “ but can use most of the roll cage from a monogram grand national (along with evergreen rods). And the frame needs to be shortened a little.

Thanks for the tip, hawk22. I am also most interested in the '60s and '70s late models, and you have built some impressive renditions!

You're starting to see more and more of these classic racer divisions pop up around grassroots short tracks. Tri County has a great series there with these.

Salvino's has too much on their plate with their contracts and commitments right now to take on a Super Late, putting a bug in Wes's ear maybe, but he seems busy with the Modified what with other teams now asking him to do their cars.
