Found a video on youtube about this exact car being located in a field in NC and restored. The original unrestored chassis, sans body, was the same color as the body.

The first one they ran at Daytona (for sure) was semi-gloss black....being a rebodied MC Anderson Valvoline Buick. They were soon red, like mentioned above.
