Finished up another one earlier this week, Kurt's Monster Fusion from 2018. I tried to base this off his car from the spring Talladega race. Body was painted TS14 Black, decaled, shot Mr. Super Semi Gloss Clear to seal everything, and then finished with Mr. Super Matte. Side skirts were modified and painted with TS22 Light Green.

Thanks for looking!

Joe

Great looking build! I like how you replicated the correct finish for the nose.

Thanks guy!

Snake, good eye. Masking the nose was a bit tedious but well worth it in the end.

The Mr. Hobby solvent based clears are my go to for top coating. After a few coats, it's strong enough so masking tape won't pull up the decals.

Horrorshow, the Goodyear's are from Mike, and the white letters and numbers are from LB Production. They're based out of Hong Kong, so I'm not sure what the shipping situation/timeframe is currently. I bought these decals early last year before all the crazy shipping delays.

Thanks again everyone!

Awesome work Joe, i like that you made the nose a different shade, something I wanted to do on mine but didnt really know the best way to about it, how did you do it?

Thanks man. I shot the whole body in semi clear, masked the nose off with narrow Tamiya tape, and then bagged it to have as little tape on there as possible to prevent any lifting of the decals.

I realize when clearing over the decals, the carrier film is glossy; so if you shoot matte right on top of them, you're still going to see the outline and end up with a difference in finish compared to the paint. That's why I shoot the whole body semi to help blend the transition. There's zero compatibility issues with the Mr. Super Clears, so the semi is a great base for their matte.

Thanks again.

Really nice as usual Joe. The transition from the nose really stands out to me. Don't think I've seen anyone attempt it, myself included, for fear of tape pulling up the decals.
