Exciting news from Mark Smith regarding NWS. Let's hope that these improvements can be made timely and races and other activities can be held there for tradition sake and community value.

NWB was a favorite of mine when I held a NASCAR license. Not only was racing good....but the laid back attitude made talking to folks I worked with easier. Nice to see they are doing something....hope it leads to CUP

I can't wait until a wrong is righted and North Wilkesboro returns to the NASCAR schedule. Really excited that the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway may be renovated and return too!

While I really liked what I saw of Elkhart Lake on TV, I think running a street race in CHICAGO will prove to be a BIG mistake. NASCAR should return to North Wilkesboro instead.

Rockingham was long my favorite track. One mile around, dog leg front straight, 24-degree banking in the turns to keep speeds decently high. And abrasive asphalt making tire management, suspension set up and racing line choice critical.

Just the right size for great racing yet keeping the 'stadium effect'.

So good to 'come home to' after having the wallet hoovered out and the patience tested amidst the hordes and the hype of Daytona. To walk past the campgrounds lining Hwy 1 near the main stands, the morning smell of bacon and coffee mixing with the sounds of revving racing engines and laughter, oh man. What a way to start a race day.

I know I'm not the only one who misses it.

Cup, Xfinity, and Truck race there, please; bring back our racing roots! We need to ditch those road courses.

Amen, it was two for years. That's plenty.

A friend of mine who recently retired from a multi-car NASCAR team told me a while back before it became current news that a major reason NASCAR is frantically dumping superspeedways for short tracks and road courses is because of the poor crash test results with the new cars. They want to get them onto tracks where high-speed wall contact is less likely.

Of course, the highest speed and most dangerous tracks will be the last to go since NASCAR has a vested interest in Daytona and Talladega.

I'm all in favor of bringing back the short tracks. We've got more road course's now than needed. Two, maybe three is plenty.

It appears some action is being taken:
