Finished this one new years day...First model of 2022 but working
on the purple 1966 Dodge Charger no. 12.
My fourth attempt at this no.9 (one day I'll get it right). This was the original version with the arrow on the wing. The color, car number & engine all remained the same, but there were at least three different versions with at least three different drivers. Same physical car.
LeeRoy was the first to drive this car & Rod Eulenfield was the last (based on my memory!!)
Made LeeRoy's name a little bigger so it could be seen. It's so small in the
original photo.
Revell 32 Ford body, AMT 1962 Chevy engine. Frame was from an ASA
Camaro (highly modified). Lots of evergreen plastic (good stuff).
Ron Coon's resin rear tires.
Rules changed often on these modiifies. By the time this one was built engines were limited to one four barrel carburetor. Wings would come and go.

Beautiful ride with crisp details and superb finishes.
Lee Roy racing a powder blue car...shows anything's possible. Smile

Don’t think LeeRoy was concerned about the color as long as his name was prominently displayed on the car. He was superstitious about driving any car with another drivers name on or above the door.
Check out the XL-1 cars I posted. They are pink (and white). Aways wondered how he felt about those colors…

Don’t think I have ever built a model “box stock”. At least not sense the early days of the Monogram Grand National cars. Even this one has a buggy spring front end that’s made from evergreen plastic, as are the shocks.
Done so many models (Around forty) sense COVID-19 that I have run out of detail parts.
Have to improvise!!!!
