I will occasionally build models of local heroes race cars from years back. I like to get them in the hands of family as many of these guys have passed away. I built one for a gentleman Tom (also a racer in his day) of his fathers race car from the early 1950's. Tom had allowed me to copy pictures of his fathers race cars and a few pictures of his own cars so the model was a return of the favor. I met with Tom today to return his pictures and give him the car. He was thrilled with the model. With that he hands me a small trophy his father Cotton Priddy won in a trophy dash on August 27th 1955 at the Jeffersonville Sportsdrome. Without a doubt, the best payment ever for building a model car. The sad part is that 10 months later in 1956, Cotton was killed in NASCAR Grand National race at the short lived Memphis-Arkansas Speedway.
