I've been away from NASCAR modeling for quite awhile but the Salvino Dodges look too good to ignore. I've pulled an MPC Plymouth body out and compared it to the new Petty Dodge. It looks close enough to me to be a drop on fit . I'll soon find out.

To my eyes the MPC Plymouth body is spot on. If Salvino copies it with a few small NASCAR mods it'll will be a good one.

Is that the #22 with Mickey Mouse on the hood? There's a Facebook decal maker that recently produced that in 1/24. I'm waiting for the Salvino's RR and have him reduce it to 1/25.

If anyone on here is in their club, or is in a position where any of those guys will listen to them PLEASE make sure they do the correct Satellite hood rather than a flat one or a Roadrunner one. They ignore me for some reason, and they're very poor at taking suggestions in general before mold steel is cut and fixes are easy and cheap.

In November of 1970, the Chrysler guys and Petty went to Daytona to test the 1971 Road Runner body style.
It was there that they discovered the RR body hood really ruined the aero of the car.
So, they decided that the 1971 Plymouth that Petty would run would be a Satellite instead of a Road Runner.

Ditto on that. The proper Satellite hood would really make that kit.

FWIW, I had started a conversion with the old '71 Roadrunner MPC kit, and found that if you cut out the Air Grabber portion carefully around the 'bumps' and replaced it with flat Evergreen stock, it looks pretty close. On the 1:1 car, the Air Grabber was just an add-on piece to the Satellite hood, so it makes sense logically as well.
