Well done!!!
Looks fantastic.
Rental car company I worked for back when this style Matador came out had a few in the local fleet. Hated the hoods on the street versions, as they did not raise up very high and kept bumping my head on the hood edge just t reach in to grab the dipstick to check the oil....
Think they made a better race car than a street car.... _________________ Ed. K |

Awesome Matador. Always wanted to do one. Yours is one of the best I've seen. |

DaveVan....
Ah, someone who knows how it feels....
A thought just came to me. I knew a guy back in the '70's and very early '80's always wore a welder's cap(?) that he cut the bill off. he always wore it at his job (was a mechanic- and tow truck driver) needed the padding those caps have, as he was bald, so he really needed the protection... _________________ Ed. Hey guys, thanks for the notes, the funny ones especially.
I cheated the heck out of this kit, as normally they are a joke. It was hard to get the opera window fillers puttied and not crack. Had to reinforce the heck out of the inside of the body to get that to work.
Roger's team would have done the same, so I am keeping in the spirit of good ole NASCAR. Was fun to do.
I really need to take some better shots that don't have all the dust on them. I am waiting for my Tamiya dust brush to arrive, then I will post some better photos. It looks pretty good in person.
I wanted to take this to a show or contest, but who knows when this will happen. |

Had one of the Penske Matadors, but never got it built, don't know why. The kit is gone, but the empty box survived! Must have been the first release, as box art does not show the opera windows (Kit # T430) One of the sides of the box has pics of Penske, Mark Donohue, Gary Bettenhausen and Peter Revson. Box art also just showed AMC Matador sponsorship....
Why the box survived, I don'r know...Latest contents of that box is and OLD dual axle trailer from and early 1960's AMT Chevy P/U kit and a '70's release of the Monogram '57 Chevy Funny car....and according to a label on the top lid, it housed my build of the Tobias Gremlin modified. How or when the funny car got put in the box, i have no idea....Guess things got shifted somehow during 16 some moves including CA to FL to NM to IA.... _________________ Ed. K |

Just realizing that the Matador was the only mid-'70s car of its size with a full-length hood. And with a canine overbite! Must have required a tetanus shot more than once. _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |
