Started this about 2 months ago and wanted to get photos posted before now but just never got around to it. I only get a few hours on the weekends to work on it so that's why its slow going. Everyone who has built the old AMT kits knows certain areas leave a little to be desired. Some areas have decent detail where others have none. Fit is also not the best in places but overall it's not too bad to build. I will be using PPP tires and wheels because the kits are just too skinny looking and the wheels are way too deep. Hopefully next week I can start on the body. Hope you enjoy!

Really nice start to an old kit, like the way you are picking out the molded in details. Thanks for sharing.

Looking good.....

Remember building this one when it 1st came out in the '70's......
And no.....it did not survive one of the purges of builds and kits after the moves started in 1981.....

Man Murphy...your detail painting is great. Especially when those HUGE pictures show every detail. I've got a few of those and that car is on my build list.

Hey Murphy...what image host are you using? The pics look like they're full size.

I’m using Imgur.. It doesn’t do this on other forums I have posted on, only this one. Not sure what’s going on. I may try a different host and try again when I post another update.

This forum does not resize photos like many do.

Hey Murphy...I use Fotki. I also pay for it. But...you can down load a re-sizer for windows for free... I have that also and I'll try to see if I can give the link... here's the link.... http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/ There are a few more out there..(you can do a google search for "IMAGE RESIZER") and see if there's any thing else that you can use.

I have(and still do ) use this resizer on all my pics that I have loaded into my folders. It's easy and you can keep the original pic too. Plus...it loads into FOTKI a lot faster when it's the smaller size.

A good size to resize to is 640x480. ALL the forums that I go to take(or want) that size. Hope this helps you Murphy...

That's much better!!! You're build is coming along nicely. I'm betting Dave Vann is interested in viewing the completed work. I think he was instrumental in the decal design.

Beautiful work and beautiful pictures! Brings back a lot of memories for me. This was the first NASCAR kit I built as a child. I'm hoping that round 2 does another run of the Malibu and Laguna soon.

Wow. I see what people have been talking about on the roll cages for these. Fatter than the exhaust pipes when they SHOULD BE 1/2 the size. I've had thoughts of getting this kit. My Fords and Mopars need competition. I would be looking into a replacement cage, even if it was fabricated from rod.

But this is a very nice job of putting this thing together and beautiful paint work. Don't take my roll cage comments above personal, only whoever at AMT designed the cage that way should do that. I expect this to be quite a nice model soon.
