Question for you resin casters out there. I have some resin parts that are no longer being made. I bought them from the man who mastered and cast the part. He is no longer producing the pieces in question. Is it a "foul" to cast copies yourself, not for resale but to complete your own personal builds?

I myself do not see any problem if you use them for yourself. Now if you were to resell them, than that would definitely not be right. That’s my opinion.

I agree. Although with the advent of the 3D printer, casting is dying out, it's still considered bad form and even theft, to recast someone else's work for profit. I see no issue in you copying defunct items for personal use. If he is out of business and you can secure his permission to do so, no harm, no foul. Wink

Make some improvements and then they are yours.
