so this is the kit, the re-issue

and I am a sucker for self-torture, so I added this

got the engine assembly, which includes the rear suspension and wing post, done. these parts fit together VERY well.

will do some more work, mostly body paint, in the warmer months. so this will be put on hold for now.

I built this kit (reissue with Tamiya etched set, plus an aftermarket sheet for the missing decals) several years ago. It was a fun build and I didn't have any issues with it. The Tamiya photoetch is smartly designed and an excellent fit. Have a good time with it.

Nice start on this! It's a great kit overall. Dating myself a bit here, but I built the original issue when it was first out (still in high school), I think Hunt was probably still celebrating his championship! Decals weren't the greatest but it came out pretty good. It was (I think) the last kit I built before 1:1 racing took over my life (and $$) for a few years! The only things I remember not liking at the time were lack of seatbelts (or a driver figure) and the battery compartment underneath. It still exists (sort of) in my parts bin, will build a re-issue one of these days. Keep us posted when you get to the painting!

Finally scored me a can of TS-36 for this build, may have to get back in the groove with it.

You're off to a good start on this. I built the Tyrrell 6 wheeler and and building the Wolf WR1 at the moment. Both use the same Ford engine. Those exhaust pipes are a pain to get right. Yours look superb!

Some much-delayed progress, got the rear wing put together. PE sideboards, Tamiya pure white and flourescent red, decals from Tabu Design.

got the driver's cowl done. Tamiya flourescent red, pure white, and matt black. this piece was primed, painted, stripped, primed and painted again, then masked off and painted some more. Hunt had a yellow tinted windshield that i tried to do with some Tamiya acrylic clear yellow, but it just didn't go down well with a brush, so that was stripped several times, repainted, and finally stripped for the final time and glued in place, clear. Embarassed combination of kit decals and Tabu Design decals.

some more progress done. all painting is done, body and parts, and have started to do some more decaling and gluing parts in place. even found a resin helmet on ebay... my wife says "it's cute"... the helmet is still in progress, have the missing decals (the kit came with the stripes, the names, and the Texaco decal) to add. didn't come with a visor Cool

Thanks for the tip. Only thing that it’s glued in place and it ain’t coming off, at least not by my hand.

This one is getting a break... seems that i put one of the headers together wrong... it looked ok but now the engine won’t fit. Gotta figure out what to do with that header pipe that is rubbing, so i am going to take a pause before i figure that out.

Besides, these beautiful Hailie Deegan decals from MPR are calling my name.
