and in the holding pattern...waiting for a new supply of Mr. Hobby 1200 and putty...

what dehydrator do you use? What settings do you use for the paints? Thanks

My dehydrator is a vital tool to me. Mine is going on 30 years old now. A $10 unit from Big Lots it has no controls. But in thousands of uses I never had an issue. If you have a temp control I use the lowest setting and see how it goes. If you use Tamiya sprays it does not need much. Single color paint jobs go from paint in the morning to decals in the evening.

(i just had to look too closely at the pics of the original cars..."oh...the doors are welded and filled...well...we just have to fix that.)

so...after the Tbirds are done...

i'm gonna do this...

found the decals for an F-16 that is over at the local museum...

of course...i've gone overboard...got all the detail parts...for 1/72 scale...

the little bag with the pitot tube says the angle of attack sensors are included...i'm gonna have to get a microscope to find out i think...

getting the chassis(s) together...

not doing to much to detail them at this point...

probably will use a less permanent method of bonding on some parts in case i want to come back later and add detail...

kinda put out with the paint on the bodies...

on the square bird...paint laid good

on the '83 body...just can't get it to lay right...

both were prepped the same...shot at the same time...(shrugs)

the weather is nice today...so... i have the '83 sanded and prepped for another shot of yellow

got the both of the chassis ready...started the mocking up the stance on the '83...

as soon as i get a couple of minutes and some good weather...gonna shoot the blue. i have two blues to try...

so...after a brief hiatus...

back to the bench. (hey...racing season started...that is when i do my best work.)

fixed the roof paint on the Squarebird...paint is still real iffy on both tho...but i am just going with it. hopefully a gloss coat will hide most of the iffy stuff.

have to finish drilling out the slots in the 5-slot wheels (one of the very few things that p***es me off about Monogram/Revell is they didn't do the wheels proper)

Lionel Elite Diecast ZL1 for MPRs new #9 sheet...

ready for decals...

shot with Rusto spray bombs...used some left over semi-gloss black...the roof was masked off...roughed up with some 400 grit...couple of coats of Mr. Hobby 1200 gray...the orange was done with one coat of regular gloss orange...after that cured...i shot it with 4 coats of "Real Orange" gloss...ran it thru the dryer for a day...then hit it with light coats of matte clear.

been looking for a non-elite version...really don't want to destroy the chassis to lower it...
