naw...most of it is logos and stuff from the schools my ungrateful offspring attended.

just stuff i snagged off the web... and spindled... and mutilated...then printed.

before:

after:

got it back together...doubled up the door numbers...redid the rolling stock to get a little bit better stance...

the roof number decal exploded when it released...the door numbers released into 4-5 pieces...somehow i got them together and they set up good.

(i will say...the decal mounting fluid that came with the decal paper i bought is some awesome stuff...i think that helped more than anything.)

dug another early build out to re-do...

this will be the full smash...strip...paint...ect...

the white i originally used just didn't hold up and yellowed...

this will probably be a fantasy scheme car...i have a couple of ideas...just have to make sure i have the right decals...

yeah...should have used microscale instead of the acrylic spray...(they had a crease thru them...but i didn't think they would self destruct like this)

i guess i can forget about a career in pinstriping...

it would have gotten a brake cleaner bath if i hadn't spent 4 hours on the topside last night...

getting decaled up...

Blue Ridge decals are sized different than the stuff shown on the real car...so i had to move things around to get it "close"...

the hood was a pain...would not take paint...had to sand it down back to primer and hit it with Mr. Surfacer 1500. finally got it to take a coat of paint.

(disclaimer: this is the very first piece of resin i have worked with. also...i know the folks who made this available come here...and i want to say thank you for making it...and please don't think i am criticizing your work. i have a rough idea of what goes into making this stuff...you guys did a bang up job getting this out)

ok...

here is the nose job in a rough primer coat...

this is (roughly) the same nose on the SMH Camry resin body...

i have done some comparisons with pics on the web to get an idea of what to do to get the resin nose to match the 1:1 car.

first is the inlets on each side...they need to be filled in and shaped or maybe shaped plugs need to be installed. you can look on the promo pic from Motor Trend and see the inlets on the prototype have a lot of curves and angles...and are taller than wide...i'm still working on a plan to try to get my nose close.

(Motor Trend/Toyota)

they other thing is the top of the fenders...(this is addressed in the instruction sheet provided by SMH)...the tops on the resin kinda have that shape...but after you do the join and start sanding...this area will have to be built up and reshaped...

the area at the emblem is pretty close...but needs to be cleaned up and sharpened...

over all the piece is a good base to start with...and this stuff will apply to the Camry body as well...i'm happy with it.

if you guys have any questions i will try to answer them...

Looks great. Stupid question, what did you use to join the resin nose to the plastic body?

Gorilla Super Glue (gel)...

quick set time...good shelf life...good bond. and the cap has an anti-clog thing built into it.

and thanks...

#24 project...

i really would like to do the 2016 car and save all the Monster era decals...
but...young Mr. Elliott wasn't old enough to have the Coors Light Pole Award decals on his car...and of course he had to win the first pole of the year in 2016 so i can't fudge it...i really don't want to dig out the printer just for those 21 means 21 decals. (shrugs...)

Freaky Fast is getting a brake fluid bath...

also...starting on my first new glue kit...took me a couple of minutes to realize that they did not mold up the roll bar padding...

well...

the snapper i was gonna use for the freaky fast car is no more.

i think the brake fluid ate it up. went to clean off the last little bit of paint and it just fell apart.

(a moment of silence...)
