Claims Holman-Moody provenance, displays Banjo Mathews familiar markings. Alabama Gang ties also? Any ideas? Thanks _________________ life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid. John Wayne |

I've seen the car before but don't have any info. Interesting to note though, apparently it rode on a chassis from 58, rather than 68. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

That car was backyard built by Rhea Greenwell on a cowbelly Galaxie chassis as a pavement Sportsman car. He took it to Daytona for the Permatex a couple of times and may have brought it to Pensacola for the Snowball Derby once. Any Allison connection seems to have been purely as a parts customer when Bobby Allison was selling race cars and parts, although he may have also sought advice from the Allisons when trying to get the car up to speed at Daytona. It does have Holman-Moody brakes, spindles, and wheels on it. Probably some other chassis/suspension parts also, since it's a Ford built in '70-'71 for speedway racing.
Here is what it looked like when it was built:
