Did the teams just fabricate some sheet metal to cover the outside of the gas tanks for protection?

Did Nascar have any rules for the tank protection?

I think that was a road course setup for leaf springs. It reduced axle windup on braking and acceleration.

Too late now. That's the setup I have for the 64 Mercury. That shouldn't relay be a problem since I am during a replica of the restored car that they occasionally race.
