If you've seen my other post in WIP, you've seen this project.
Here's the question: Given the shape of the trim around the headlights, I considered using actual metal rod (piano wire) to get the outline, then filing in the flat spots. Have any of you ever tried something like this, and do you have any tips? Ideas? |

My friend your skills so far exceed mine, I would not even dare hazard a guess. Nice work. _________________ Dennis

Thank you very much! I have decided to go with good old styrene for the trim. The wire was just too... wiry. |

I've seen people use brass rod to replicate windsplits in hoods and fenders because it has the advantage of not being affected by sanding around it. |

See, that's what I was thinking. The area is uber delicate, and I thought it would be easier to get the wraparound shape, then just file it with my jeweler's file. After several failed attempts and some all new cuss words, I abandoned it until I could try it on something with less demanding curves.
I like the idea of using it for the windsplit in the hood though. |
