Has anyone seen a pickup used as a jalopy racer? Thinking of using 34 Ford pickup as one |

They were fashionable for a while with the California Racing Association as track roadsters because they didn't weigh anything. The hot set up was an "A" body on Deuce rails so they could use the V-8. I've seen 28-29's but not a '34. |

The 34 would make a very cool looking HARDTOP ( jalopy). _________________ Short Track racing....Ya gotta love it.

Oh. His name just popped into my head. Earl Wagner. He was a big deal in sprint car racing at Knoxville. If you google Earl Wagner racing you can read more about him. Tb |

Not being close to Knoxville, IA to watch Earl Wagner run....though my oldest brother probably did for at least a couple of years in the early 60's before the military draft came looking for him.....
I got to watch Earl run at Manzantia in Phoenix in 1973 & 1974 when I made it to the Western Open in Oct of those years....Got to see him win it in 1973 in only his second visit there......
The irony of that win in Phoenix, was the Earl never won the Knoxville Nationals......
My one and only race at the Knoxville track came the summer of 1971..... _________________ Ed. K |
