Had the family over today. My two year old nephew went up to my man cave / model room. Resulted in 3 destroyed models. 2 in critical condition. Not a big deal to most people. Took the wind completely out of my sails.

Needed to vent to people who would understand how it feels.

To my credit, I didn't blow a gasket, yell or scream. Just smiled and ate Thanksgiving lunch.

Vent over. Thanks.

Crying or Very sad

I am sure that hurts but a 2 y/o is gonna grab and go. I recall chasing a 2 y/o around with a digital camera, I never caught him before he tossed it.

I remember when my son was young and he built a few models, he is one of those ultra meticulous types that spent a lot of effort making his models look nice. He was at his grand parents, mother's side and their other grandson came over and grandma gave my son's models to the little one. Took less than a minute and they were in pieces and broken up.
I cannot repeat what my son told/called his grandma, let's just say he used a lot of French and he was not happy.

My son has never again built a model, decades have passed.

My wife has a little terror of a grandson like that. All my
models are in a case up high. Luckily they never come to visit.
I like kids I just have a problem with the ones who don't listen.
My parents were lucky, they had 6 kids that DID listen. I feel
your pain but NEVER want to share it.....sorry---John

Growing up I shared a bedroom with my younger brother. My models (cars and ships) were displayed on wall shelves and on my bookcase type bed headboard. My brother would stand across the room and throw rubber balls at the models like he was in an arcade! I think it's funny now, not so back then.

I tried one Christmas to put a set of my Lionel trains around the tree. My oldest child had just started to walk a few months earlier. First time she saw the trains she went over and began kicking them over! They promptly were taken down and put away.

Now that I have grandchildren, my man cave has a lock on the door so there will be no unsupervised visits.

Can't get too mad or upset with the young ones...just another life lesson!

I've accidentally destroyed more of my own stuff that anyone else has. Just last night I finished up a chassis and was test fitting the body, dropped the chassis and watched the rear axle go bouncing across the floor.....<sigh>.
