recently picked up an Impala snapper, thought it would be a neat little kit to throw together, but couldn't decide on a car to build. decided to go with the #78 Furniture Row car of Regan Smith...
so my question is, I know that this car normally has a matte black finish to it, but in the above picture it sure looks shiny... how many seasons did it run before the team went matte? I don't know what year this pic is from, just found it on a random internet search for reference photos. I am inclined to paint it gloss black, but the bright red on the splitter and roof rails looks to be a bit tough to replicate, I am surely not going to mask those areas just to spray a bit of bright red... that's out of my wheelhouse (ie. I am a bit lazy with painting ).
any thoughts? _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

They ran glossy paint schemes at Daytona and Talladega. Matt finish everywhere elese. Newer cars are actually a very fine carbon fiber pattern that would be almost impossible to replicate in scale so flat black would work. |
