Reposts. Modeled after cars I saw race on the 1/2 mile clay Speedway Park track , Jacksonville, Fl in the early 1960's.
#39 various cars driven by LeeRoy Yarbrough.
#6 and #16 David Ezell.
#10 "Wild" Bill Shaw.

I love these cars, especially the ones with the big old “W” blocks in them. Most people forget how many of these big old truck motors went to the track.

That's some very cool racing history. Great job on replicating all those cars.

Oh yea!! Those were the day when men made race cars out of junk. Now, they mostly make junk out of race cars.

That one no. 39 coupe looks to have a 409 with fuel injectors sticking up. Can you imagine kicking that thing off the corner? With those skinny tires?

Maybe it isn’t a 409, but an smaller 348. Not that that would make any difference with that light car, and those skinny tires.
The fuel injection surprises me. In my area six dueces ruled the track, and a lot of them ran with a fair amount of success against the injected motors when they first showed up.

409 was the magic numbers heard in the grand stands but it may be because of the popular
409 rock song that was played over the PA system, among other songs of the era.
Cubic inch was unlimited, as was fuel injection and multi carbs. Rules later changed to
duel four barrels then single four barrel as a cost cutting measure. Popular cam was made
by Schooler, a local Jacksonville company.
Trival side note, rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd was a local Jacksonville band. Founder Ronnie
Van Zant was a big racing fan. Couldn't afford the cost of a TICKET ($2.00), but would climb
the trees outside of the track for a spectacular view. Went to school with Ronnie, Lake Shore
Jr. High. He was a couple of years ahead of me. We were both fans of Lee Roy Yarbrough, who
lived with his mother just outside the track (car #39)...
