Just started on this. So far I have completed the roll cage, some of the engine and chassis and done some body work (altering the shape of the front nose and removing the door handles.
I have some questions on this before I proceed any further. What color was the interior of Pearson's 69 ride? I'm also not 100% sure the dash gauges are correct on the PL kit, did they have fuel gauges on cars of this era? The kit appears to be missing the pins for the trunk, where are they located? Finally Does anybody have or now where I could find information on where the various fuel, brake and oil lines run? |

The links within the Talladega Cyclone buildup do not work, it looks like they were never archived. |

My bad! There is nothing past the "tips" prompt. Those were some great tips. _________________ life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid. John Wayne |

Yeah, I had tried to access those pages before and couldn’t get any farther then the that. I’m still trying to find any information on the various fluid lines and where they go. I have articles on this for the 80’s monogram kits but I don’t know if they did things differently during the aero wars era. |

Try sending Matt a pm. I think he's still a member here. His tips were fantastic. _________________ life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid. John Wayne |

Update, I'm almost done with the chassis. I added spark plug and ignition coil wiring, fuel, brake and oil lines, a harness for the seat and replaced the exhaust pipe ends with aluminum tubing.
I'm now working on painting and applying the decals to the body shell and hood.

Be interested to know your paint choices for the body's colors.
Gotta coupla '68 Torino AMT bodies and a '69 UoR Talladoogie diecast to play with. |

Alright the Pearson Torino is almost done, though I might want to touch up the grill wash. This is the first time I have ever done a NASCAR (or any type of car) model. Prior to this I have exclusively modeled tanks and other AFV's.
Polar Light Holman Moody Torino Talladega driven by David Pearson during the 1969 season.
various angles
the competition saw a lot of this view
429 engine
Kit front end altered to give correct profile, engine bay to get engine in and rear window sanded to sit flush, detailed with PPP wheels and tires, exhaust ends replaced with aluminum tube, Pro-tech hoses, fittings, and wire, detial master hood and trunck pins (the latter completly missing from the kit) and powerslide instrument and door handle cover decals added.
To answer a question for the body I used Model Car World Acapulco Blue Metallic and Gold Gloss Lacquer and Vallejo model air Black.
Overall I enjoyed building this except for the kit decals which were some of the worst I have ever used. Fought me every step of the way and took an ocean of setting solution to settle down properly. I don't know if this is a trend with these kits or it was a bad set though.
I also don't think the stance is 100% correct in the front, but I got it as low as I could. The kit was also missing the gas cap and vent, don't know what to do about either? |

The Talladega looks great. The Polar Lights kits are a challenge, there is not a lot of positive fitting parts. The build nice once you learn to fit the parts up like they should go. Looks like you did a great job on the kit.
Do dome more cars, the normal car kits go together nicely, Revell, Monogram, AMT and Mobius kits are all very nice, ususally. |

great job for a first car build. i like how you matched the gold paint to the stripe down the side. about the rear window, i am still to try building one of these kits. when you say you sanded the rear window to flush it i assume you mean the window frame on the body, correct?
thanks- joe |

Beautiful! The only thing it needs is the red and black Holman Moody decal (not the long one) on the matte alum. radiator shroud.
