I actually built this from a Michael Waltrip kit with just the bumpers and decals from the Trickle kit. Also, I don't always trust the kit decals so I added a few extra stripes and most of the contingencies came from the drawer.
I stripped the numbers and stripes when I noticed they were too high. I know I'm picky but now I've got it right. _________________

Looks great! I am always in amazement looking at how you are all able to throw things things together from this kit or that kit. Is this one of those 1:25 scales by any chance? I have 2 of those to work on at some point.
Also, I love the garage--what kind of work went into that? I love when people put their work in some kind of context like that. The best I could do was put a picture of Daytona as a backdrop hahaha. Nowhere near as impressive! |

It's a 1:24 Monogram kit. What I do is take the '91 Pontiac and sand the headlight panel smooth and cut off the side skirt. Then I use the '88-'90 bumpers to make it a "REAL" 1990 1-1/2 mile Pontiac. Those AMT kits are great but I just like the Monogram ones because they are a little bigger. As far as the shop goes, I used foam board and corrugated plastic for the walls and doors. The tools were mainly from accessory kits.

Looks good! I've always liked the TropArtic cars. When we were out in Indiana years ago we actually stopped there and got gas just because they supported racing so much through the years.
With the kit decals, the whole hood is one giant decal- did you cut out the logo and paint the hood, or is it all decal? When I eventually do this car I do plan to paint the hood anyway, and then decal it, just in case the decal cracks. _________________ http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/

I cut out the logo as close to the white border as possible and had to do a little touch-up once I put the hood pins in. I hate hood and stripe decals. Especially when they give you a stripe that goes across the nose (because they ain't flat) so I paint whatever I can and use decals that are logos only. _________________
