Awesome looking car!

I am fast realizing that I have more kits and more decals than I will ever be able to build. Yet I keep buying more. I need help.

That's great!

1953 hood I notice. Was that in any other kit? I have not gotten the Tim Flock version (yet) and I know the factory stock kit didn't have 53 option.

I don't recall seeing Marshall Teague in the #1...I recall it being #6...I'll have to check my reference photos, it's very possible that I just am remembering wrong...and it was not uncommon at the time to use multiple different numbers during a season...or even on the same car in a race, for that matter.

Teague had a ......issue.....with NASCAR in 1953 early on (IIRC) and pulled out and went to AAA and USAC which were as big as NASCAR in the day. He started using #1 then. So this is the first kit of a excursively AAA racer manufactured yet! Between the two Teague kits there are about 5 versions of Marshall's car buildable. The blue/gray car, Black car, Black and white car all #6 and two versions of #1.

Hood is the same for both kits. The hood has molded-in thin sections for opening up to locate either the '52 or the '53 hood ornament or to leave it smooth without requiring any filler. '52 has additional chrome parts on the tree but IIRC lacks the '53 hood ornament.

I believe Teague's departure had to do with his being replaced as treasurer of NA$CAR by Annie France and the discovery that he, Raymond Parks, Bill Tuthill and others no longer owned any of NA$CAR even though they were not paid for their shares of stock.

I can sure believe that. Then and now, same story of the private realm of NA$CAR.
