Well folks...Slim Louis inspired me to get to some of the road course cars that I've had on the back burner for a few yrs. I decided to build the Jagermeister Zakspeed Ford Capri using the Tamiya Mampe Capri for the build. It is fairly simple as far as parts count goes but...well engineered and up to the Tamiya molding standards go.

The kit roll cage is only half there. Soo..I want to put as much bar work in the green house as possible. Finding interior Pictures of the cage area was a pretty good challenge. I finally found some on line a few days ago. I had alredy started building the front part of the missing cage when I discoverd the rest of the story. Now...I'm going to add the Door bars along with another support bar from the right front upright to the bar just under the dash. Here are a few pics of the work I've got done to this point.

Here's an update on the bar work...It is complete and as far as I'm going with it. I added the door bars and the bar that goes from the left upright bar to the center of the dash bar. I made this cage so it will lift out for painting. I want to do the cage a little different color than the interior and it makes adding things easier when the cage isn't in the way. Here are a few pics. Thanks for stopping in.

Thanks Scooter....I saw a utube video on Peter Zakowski in the Turbo Capri racing the 935Ks. I'll try and load the link so you can see it. It's around 20 some minutes long. 2 Races and we get to be on board with him for both races. It's GREAT. That engine in that car is just flat awesome...

Isn't that Capri flat cool? I found myself talking to him while he was taking on the slower Porsches...LOL That one 935 really slowed him up..he kinda showed his disgust with him out his window...I wonder what his fingers were doing LOL... I'm pretty sure he won that second race too! Good video..

i think he lapped every car except the Mini Cooper...lol...

sounded like he hurt the car in the end...

if you want to see some awesome racing on the Youtube...check out the Improved Production series that runs in Australia...vintage V8 Supercars and vintage Trans Am cars running in full combat mode...that is some good stuff.

WOW...I just watched a UTUBE on those trucks. Dang...those guys are doing dirt racing on Asphalt. I just saw Robby Gordon loose his race on the Last turn. Went in to Hot.... Then...this other guy (can't remember his name) hit the last ramp and lost a rear tire and did Donuts to the finish line! He finished tenth. Wow...I like the LUCAS OFF Road Truck and Buggy series up here in Arizona( I think) but this is flat Crazy!!! LOL I think I'm going to like this series...thanks for the heads up!!

Here's some progress info. The wind vanes(for lack of better tech info) on the front fenders are made along with the left front vent on the hood. All the holes that were engineered into this kit for the battery thing are all Plugged. The bottom set belt slots are also cut in and the holes in the back of the seat are plugged. The knob for the turbo was fabbed from plastic rod and is mocked up in the pics. It's ready for priming and that should happen tonight...hopefully...
Body....

Chassis....

Well..it started out as a Jagermeister livery. I have changed it to the WURTH Black car. I want to do the Jagermeister car as a full detail build. Here's a pic of the Wurth Black car....

I have to fill in the NACA duct hole in the hood. The Strakes get to stay...This should be ready for primer soon...

Well...got some more work done on the Wurth Capri..The wheels are painted and tires mounted ready to add to the chassis. The chassis is painted and 99% of the detail painting is complete. Just have to touch up a little here and there. Tomorrow the cage ans all the interior goodies will go in. The Dash Gauge bezels have been painted but the Gauge decals haven't been added yet. The body is painted but needs rub out. That will happen real soon...this puppy is really getting close to track time... Here are a few pics to see what's been done...

This Capri is finished. I had to go with a different race team as the Decals for the Wurth Black car was wrong. Sooo...I went with the D&W Black car. It has a very cool paint scheme. The Decals took a little time but all in all...they were good. Here's a few pics of the finished D&W Zakspeed Ford Capri...thanks for looking in folks...

Thank you Shunter...I never got to see these cars run in person but...I've gotten to see a few U-tube videos of them running. Man...these Capri are really fast. I want to do at least two more of them. Maybe three.

Thanks ED...as you know...I usually don't build to many curbsides. This is the second one that I've ever done. The Next Capri will be a full detail build using one of the Monogram Mustang kits. I'd like to do the Jagermeister car(the one I thought I was going to do on this build). Of course...it's down the build list..
