| Ok, I've seen LOTS of killer builds on here but I can't seem to find any info on the best way to mask/ paint the spoiler and side skirts. The side skirts and front air dam I can manage... most of the time. But I must take my stupid pills when it comes to masking the rear spoiler. I can't seem to get that perfect line. Do you guys have a trick?? What is it?? Thanks for the help in advance. |

I use tamiya tape. I first do a light scribe of the front and back and tape it and them mask off the rest of the body to prevent overspray. _________________ Worry about things that are important. Life has no remote... Get up and change it yourself!! Have a great day! |

This is cheating,... but sometimes I use a thin strip of a scrap of the same color decal and slide it on at the line where the colors meet, thus creating a very clean line, or the illusion of one. Basically I use it every chance I get. |

Boy Jake, I wish I thought of that. That is genius!!
I use the blue painter’s tape and lay a piece of tape out on some spare glass I have. I then take a sharp xacto blade and a metal ruler and cut a strip of tape no more than 1/16 of an inch wide. I use this strip to do all of the close masking to the spoiler as it will bend to the shape of the spoiler without wrinkling. I burnish this down as well as I can, mask the rest of the car and paint.
I think I am going to use Jake’s method from here on out. |

I use a strip of 6mm tamiya masking tape over the flange to trunk interface, puse the tape down with a Q-tip and a sharp #11 x-acto blade and cut the tape at the edge of the spoiler flange on both ends and the bottom edge. Remove the masking tape from the spoiler flange.
For the curved edge on the front of the spoiler where it meets the trunk, start at one end and using the 6mm tamiya masking tape, pull the tape and curve it while laying it down. I use a flat wood toothpick to press the tape down tightly, then brush paint both sides of the spoiler. _________________ Mick

I've had good luck with bare metal foil. Burnish it down really well on the front and rear, use a sharp Xacto to trim it to fit, put some wide masking tape over the rest of the body for overspray, then give it a shot of clear gloss to make sure all the nooks and crannies are covered. Then you're ready to paint your spoiler. _________________ Stay away from Moveras rebuilt transmissions, whatever you do! |

| I also take the blue painers tape and instead of using the edge of the roll for my division line edge, I cut it down the middle using a ruler and exacto knife. this produces an ultra fine edge that makes a huge difference and a super, super clean line. |
