Finished a second modified (and more than likely the last for me). These things are a pain the rump to build. I build models for fun, when it gets too much like work I'm not interested in it. These kits take a lot of patience and re-engineering to get together even remotely like they are supposed to. That said, I made a set of decals to do one of the most iconic cars from Bowman Gray, the famous Melvin Puddin Swisher # 53.

Very good looking model but another comment making me reluctant to build one. Someday I'll give it a try.

I'm with you TonyK, I've got one one waiting to be built, not when I'll start that headache. Gonna get the big bottle of Excedrin before I start.

Lost interest in current kit car modified racing.
But my main model hobby is building “old school”
Modifies (mainly from the early 60’s) from scratch.
I have posted a few (around 50 I guess !)…

Congratulations on putting one of those kits together,
I for one would not have the patience for that…

@hawk22, I wish that we had a "like button". I agree with you about kit car racing. I utterly despise NASCAR's next gen cars for that very reason.

Agreed on the mod kits. I am currently in the process of building one and I would not recommend these kits for beginners.

First let me say I am truly thankful that Glenn Hurd and Wes have put the mod kits out there. The mod is my favorite racecar and I have been waiting a long time for these things (I have not built a Hurd kit yet).

These cars do build up into a great piece........with some work.

I love the fact you built "Puddins" car. That red 53 is iconic. Great build!

Thanks for that inside and personal info. Your build looks pretty sweet in its completion. I'm on that list of people waiting for the right one of these new Salvino Modifieds to come along to motivate me to build one. I very much like building up the MPC Modified kits. I will soon be posting up. Very accessible to personal modifications.
