Just got 2 of these to do the 1990 and 1991 cars,
what color paint are you guys going to use for these cars, looked at a ton of photos and they all look a different color red.
Would prefer Tamiya, Testors or Model Master paint. ( I know MM is gone but I have really a lot of it )
Thanks for any and all help
Joe

Way back when Testor's was available I thought I used a can called Ruby Red Metal Flake, in the regular testor's line.

I thought it was a base coat of brown primer first and then the top-coat came out almost exactly like the car.

this was 1990-91, when I painted the car.

Did another one years later in diecast, with a similar paint scheme, but the Ruby Red can was renamed by then.

There must be a modern paint with that match.

anyone else want to help with a Testor's lacquer, Tamiya, or another match?

The real car was painted 1990 Ford Wild Strawberry Red. I once made one using Testor's Kiln Red Metallic and it was too dark.

I am going to make another and the options are Scalefinishes Wild Strawberry acrylic enamel which is airbrush ready or perhaps Tamiya Mica Red over Tamiya Gold, spray cans. I tried that on a white spoon and it looks close to me, but I don't have any Wild Strawberry to compare it to.
Scalefinshes paint is genuine auto paint and is computer mixed to factory color codes. I always buy the enamel because it does not need clear coat.

Yes, the correct #6 Folgers color is Wild Strawberry Metallic. I have an extra jar of Model Car World #2030 WSM Gloss Lacquer (airbrush ready) if you would like it.

Duplicolor makes the wild strawberry metallic in their touchup line.
