Watching practice for the Clash and noticed the exhaust dumps have been moved back. Anyone know if this is a permanent thing or is it something to do with them running mufflers?
EDIT: Mike Joy just said that it was for the muffler after Gibbs caught on fire. |

I heard earlier that they added mufflers to the cars to cut done the noise as they are racing inside a bowl, similar to Bristol. That moved the outlet back in front of the rear wheel. This is for the Collesium race only so far. |

I think that they're running mufflers at the Chicago street race too. _________________ "Many men fish all their lives without knowing it is not the fish they are after." Henry David Thoreau

Imagine that, another NASCAR next gen car catching on fire. _________________ "Many men fish all their lives without knowing it is not the fish they are after." Henry David Thoreau

It caught fire because the Gibbs team did not properly attach the mufflers and caused the exhaust to come in direct contact with the door foam. |

I noticed there where blinking lights just under the rear bumper cover on Truex's car during practice. |

The NASCAR / ARCA West Series has run mufflers at stand - alone events since the 1970's. While a 20+ car field still makes that sweet sound when the green flag flies, it is much more tolerable in the pits. Former West Series driver John Soares was the earliest manufacturer of these mufflers, in response to complaints by those who bought houses near a race track, then were SHOCKED to discover racing going on there !!! |

I'm well aware of what is being said by JGR and NASCAR. We'll see as the season goes on. Hopefully that's all it is. _________________ "Many men fish all their lives without knowing it is not the fish they are after." Henry David Thoreau

New hood vents for 2023 noticed during the Clash. Ford don't stick up in the air, flush and larger. Toyota look to be re-designed also. |

Looks like the 2023 Chevy headlights are flush with the grill. Should be an easy fix there. |

To me it looks like chevy already had an aerodynamic advantage and now it's even better. The other two cars look like parachute noses compared to the Camaro. JMHO. |
