First thing is you need one of these;

Get it from MicroMark
http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?MerchantID=RET01229&Action=Catalog&Type=Product&ID=83651

2. A small mirror, 5" X 7", 1" masking tape, a small piece of wax paper and a kit net for a template.

Lay a 4" long piece of masking tape sticky side down on the mirror.

Adjust the width of the dual blade cutter to the width of the kit upper & lower horizontal strip and cut two strips from the masking tape laying them sticky side down on the wax paper in the same position as the kit net.

Make the width of the dual blade cutter narrower so the remaining strips cut from the masking tape are the same width as the kit net. You will have to make two strips even narrower to match the two very narrow vertical strips of the kit net. Do this with the #11 bladed x-acto knife. I transfer each strip of masking tape from the mirror to the wax paper using the tip of the x-acto blade.

I cut all vertical strips and apply them to the wax paper, then cut and apply the horizontal strips over the vertical strips.

When all vertical & horizontal strips have been layed on the wax paper, use the end of the x-acto knife opposite the blade to push the masking tape strips onto each other. The net will look like this when done. There will be some excess, but take a small pair of scissors and trim the excess off.

Now the net looks like the kit net.

Carefully peel the net off the wax paper and you have this.

Spray the sticky side of the masking tape net with flat black, then a couple minutes later flip the net over and spray the other side and you have this. The trick is to have the painted sticky side of the tape net showing, it looks very realistic and more so than having the painted smooth side of the showing. To do this, always lay the kit net so that if the net were up, that way you match the net and transfer the sticky side of the tape strips onto the wax paper. Hope this is understandable. idunno

Now with the painted net, use a small diameter paint brush and roll the net over the paint brush to get the curve in the net where it will hang over the door sill.

for decals I use either Simpson decals from kit decal sheets or Slixx Goodies sheets. The other decal is the yellow "Z" decals that stand for Bill Simpson's new safety company Impact Racing. I also use hardware on the top of the net, which is the bottom of the net as it hangs from the door sill, from seat belt photo etched pieces. Cut a short piece of wire and white Elmer's glue it to the back of the net and white glue a piece of photo etched hardware to the front of the net. Run a small bead of white Elmer's glue on the door sill and carefully lay the curve of the net onto it.

There you have it...............

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Just wondering if there's anything else that you've seen on my builds that you'd like me to show you how to to them?

Here's a simple detail that add's some realism to the windshield.

Here's the parts you'll need. I have made a template for all the windshields that I build from yellow post-it's. Leaave the sticky part on the back of the post-it and make that the top part of the template so it will stick to the plastic while cutting out the tear off. 2000 and newer chevy's, dodges and tauri and you can see them at the top of the blue towel. 4" x 6" mirror, sharp #11 x-acto blade and any thin kitchen plastic wrap.

In this case I'm doing a 03-05 monte. I like to cut out the center piece of the one piece window. It makes it easier to snap the window in place but in this case as I was trimming the plastic after taking a 1" diameter cut-off wheel in a dremel and cutting the center out, I broke the one piece window into two pieces. Shocked Embarassed idunno It fits though, so it ok. boogie

This shows how the template on the windshield.

Lay a small piece of plastic wrap on the mirror, lift it up on a corner and use your finger to get the plastic lay flat, withough wrinkles, on the mirror. Take the template and lay it one the plastic where you got flat and smooth and carefull cut around the edges of the template with the x-acto knife.

Here's the cut tear off piece still on the mirror, prior to placement on the windshield.

Now with a dull x-acto blade, you don't want any ooooops I cut it mistakes during this process, pick it up off the mirror and set it in place on the windshield. With your fingers, smooth it out and your ready for decals.
