Hello all, I am hoping that someone might know of a source of decals for Smut's 79-80 Monte Carlos, please.

I'm digging the Harry Gant "Race Hill Farms" Monte, never seen that one!

I agree - it is a nice looking car! I have that one in the cue to build using the Bouchard decals from Mikes. https://www.mikesdecals.com/race-hill-farm-harry-gant-ron-bouchard-1979-powerslide-296-p-5189.html

There is another image on the Nashville420 website. This website is great to explore, with some lovely photos.

That would be great, Dave. There a few variations shown in photos on the web. Here are a few showing side and tail sponsors and contingencies. I can see both black and yellow hoods, and both Thompson Industries and Mr Transmission sponsorships. The details of the hood sponsorship is not obvious yet. I will keep digging.

Some more info and photos, Dave. According to Racing Reference, Mr Transmission sponsorship was carried for all 1979 other than the NAPA 500 (where he drove a Cunningham Kelly #14 car) and into early 1980. Thompson Industry sponsorship started for the first Darlington race in 1980. (One Broadway car in 1980 also - race 5 at Atlanta).

No clear images of some of the hood sponsors yet, but perhaps you can tell better than me how they might look?

A few John Betts images for the 1979 MIS races...

The ones below are from the Jimmy Means Racing Twitter site. No attribution to photographers, I am afraid, so a big thanks to whoever took and posted these images..

This looks like the 1979 Champion Spark Plug 400 @ Michigan

Thanks Dave. I will keep searching for better info on hood and tail sponsors. I also emailed Mr Transmission and Thompson Industries in the hope that someone there might take interest and check archives and memories.

You might try contacting Jimmy directly at meansmotorsports52 on Instagram, Jimmy Means Racing on Facebook or at Jimmy Means racing.com I don't have either, but I know that Jimmy is a super nice guy. He might be able to help you out.

Thank you - as obvious as it seems, I never thought to try JMR. I have now contacted them.

Jack Yost of JMR is going to hunt through old newsletters to see what he can find. Thanks again for the tip.
