I did see this car race on a warm Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville.
LeeRoy's name was on the door but the car was driven by a South Carolina driver
named Red Barber. LeeRoy was in the race but drove the "other" 39, a 34 Ford
coupe with a W block chevy engine. Both cars were owned by Red Moore.
Grand stand chatter was the sedan was Buick powered (the car had a fully covered hood).
But it may have been hemi powered. Anyway the car was totaled in the third turn and
was never seen again.
This is the third version of the sedan. This time with an open hood & the hemi engine.
Kind of what it may have looked like if it had raced beyond that first time out.
Resin body, tires & wheels. The engine is from the Revell 32 Ford kit.
