Hi all...

I have a question about the QUALITY of aftermarket decals.

Last time I put a kit together, I used Slixx...or Racescale...or Wetworks.

I have a few JWTBM and PowerSlide sets that look very good.

Who else is making sheets that match the quality of the makers I listed? It'll help as I search eBay, etc....

Thanks for any advice....

Tony

I have used Powerslide, Ace , Plastic Performance , 3 Amigos from current suppliers. Also Slixx, Yesterday and Fred Cady in the past with good success

Most are of good quality as long as they are the real deal. Beware of fakes and copies especially on eBay.

From Mikes Decals (Powerslide)

There is a seller on ebay that sells photo copies of many of my PENNGWEN hobby decals. He makes them w/o white underlay so pretty much junk.....and a THIEF.

I would say JWTBM and Powerslide are actually a step up from what you are using with Slixx. I never used much Racescale/Wetworks but I remember them being of comparable quality to JWTBM back in the day. I loved JWTBM and still do to this day if I come across a set that I need.

A lot of the independent decal makers are real good too. I guess the biggest issue is exposure, because they basically print on demand, they aren't exactly wholesale and out there for the world to find. Cutting them is sometimes a pain since you have to cut close to the decal, but otherwise, usually really good stuff.

I'd stay away from eBay for the most part, theres a few sellers on there selling reprints of other peoples work. Just proceed with caution but more importantly try to buy direct as much as possible

I agree with all of the trusted vendors listed and would like to add a few more!!

I have used decals from LoboGraphix and JH Designs and would like to also recommend decals that have been created from Retro Racing Design as well.

Check here for more options!

Let me add this Stay away from Ebay decal vendor Teresawulf or Jim Heller

since they are a screen copy of many vendors decals. They are 9.99 or so, and

lower priced than the quality vendors, but they are just what Dave Van says,

taking other people's work and reproducing them, and the decals are going to

flake off since they are using a colorized background to replace the lack of

white toner. This has been a known issue for decades, but there are still

many new modelers that need to know this.

Go to Mike's Decals web page and look for the link that says "Ebay Caution"

Thanks!!

Buy Authentic, or buy independent but stay away from "Highline decals" "TeresaWulf" or "Jim Heller" vendors.

Thanks
