Hoss Ellington was an owner/driver in the 60's and 70's.
Modeled after a car he ran in the 1969 Permatex 300 and
later wrecked in the 69 Firecracker 400.
An AMT Mercury Comet that I got years ago. It was so
"stock" that I never wanted to do anything with it. But finally did
some fender flaring and a few other body changes to make it
look a little racy. Scratch built roll cage. PPP tires, rims and decals.
Just noticed but should have added a spoiler.
Had the Bud Moore Mercury in mind when I started but ended
up as a Hoss Ellington car.
My thinking is Hoss got this car from Bud Moore. But really don’t know
the cars history.

the end of the 61 with the race winning car in the background.

Great looking build. I've always wanted to get one of those kits, but they are hard to find.

Really the only way to get period correct tires under that skinny body. Rear fenders are flared also.

I never knew that Hoss raced. most of the illegal equipment section in Nascar museums is from Hoss's shop. Confused
