Let’s say, with Hendrick money. 3 car NASCAR team of drivers, in their prime, from any era… who would it be… and what is your reasoning?

Mario Andretti- to me, unquestionably the best race car driver ever, in any and all type of cars. He won in them all.

Mark Martin- smooth and intelligent, always seems to be around at the end unless the car broke or someone wrecked him. Some detractors may say that he never won a championship at the highest level, but his multiple ASA and IROC titles weigh over that to me.

Niki Lauda- very intelligent driver who knew what was needed to be done to make a car better. Knew how to win championships regardless of who he drove for. Definitely knew how to win.

Kyle Larson was another runner for the 3rd car. Knows how to drive any type of car and win in it. Same with AJ Foyt and Tony Stewart. That 3rd car was a tough call for me.

Please chime in…

For now....I will lead off with:..

Parnelli Jones...

He was a standout in Midgets and sprints, as well as Indy cars He was also standout in the Trans Series driving for Bud Moore. Not sure of his USAC Stock Car Series back in the day, but given his talent and the right car owner, he cold have rivaled A. J. Foyt in NASCAR.

Petty, Pearson and Cale, the Dream Team!

The total wins in the top level series says it all.

The #27 Miller Lite Chevy would be driven by Rusty Wallace because of his knowledge of setups and the fact that he never backed down even from Earnhardt.

The #51 Rowdy Energy Chevy would be driven by Kyle Busch because of his sheer raw talent.

The #25 Red Baron Pizza Chevy would be driven by Ken Schrader because seriously, what COULDN'T that dude win races in?

A good list, though I'd add :
Ray Elder
Jim Insolo
Bill Sedgwick
Mike Chase
Rick Carelli ( before his accident )

my three teams would be in Toyota's ( the first 3-6 years in Cup cause they were throwing money into getting started).
Team 1 Mark Donahue with Jake Elder

Team 2 Junior Johnson with Herb Nab

Team 3 Wendell Scott with Hoss Ellington This would show what Wendell could do with a top tier car and not worrying about having to save the car to make the next race.

Man, I'm showing my age with these picks. Razz

#1 David Pearson, a master at preserving his equipment and was a consistent winner on all types of tracks.
#2 Junior Johnson, a master mechanic and a guy that would take the cars to their limit.
#3 Ayrton Senna, would have to learn the weight transfer of the heavy cars, but as a talent, the greatest natural talent i ever saw. The road racing would be his domain.
Bobby Allison and Dale Earnhardt would be a certain winner in any situation also. Foyt and Stewart
too.

I am staying with Cup guys:
Davey Allison - all he went through in the '92 season and should have won the championship.

David Pearson - highest winning percentage in nascar, drove for several teams and manufacturers. Got it done.

Jimmy Hensley - like Wendell Scott, never really had a chance in top notch Cup equipment. Put Earnhardt's car on the pole in Martinsville when Dale couldn't get to the track.

The last one gives away what my forum name means

#1 David Pearson - Would probably have as many or more wins than Petty had he raced more. Awesome driver and a great man.

#2 Tim Richmond - Super talented guy who could drive anything. Who knows were he would have gone if he had not been taken so soon

#3 Dale Earnhardt - No list of NASCAR greats could ever be complete without mentioning this man right here!

These three guys right here in their prime on a Hendrick type team today would smoke the competition in my opinion.
