These two were unique as far as modified cars of the day. They were built from
ford thunderbirds, including the engine and at least the radiator. I used Monogram
56 thunderbirds as the base of these two. Frame had to be chopped & channeled & the engine
set back. But it was easy to see why one of these thunderbird frames would work well
as a modified. Also changed to a single spring front & rear.
The 3 window body is from Big Donkey (have to buy thru Mikes Decals now). The 5 window
is an AMT 34 Ford.
Willie Carter & the 3 window coupe
5 window. Think this is a 34 chevy. Used a 34 ford for the model.
they looked very much the same.
car owner also owned a shell service station
most of the time these cars ran without the hood
