Don't know the details, but in 1966 LeeRoy began the
season in a Ray Nichels Engineering #12 Dodge Charger
but in short order it became the Jon Thorne #12 purple
Charger with LeeRoy still the driver.
I would assume it was a business deal with the blessing
of Dodge, forming a new team in Georgia.
I actually like this version of the 12, which was a standard
Ray Nichels red and white.
Revell Charger, PPP tires and rims. Scratch built roll cage.
(lost the hood, used one from a 67 Plymouth).

66 Dodge under construction. Looks like it started out as a showroom car. A little different as to how stock cars are built in 2022.
Would like to see Dodge return to NASCAR

Very nice, I too like that color combination over the purple, looks racier (if that's a word)
Just wondering, how many of his cars have you built? I am impressed with your collection.

Has to be Around forty. But only a few are for me.
All being done for a friend in Jacksonville (LeeRoy’s home town) who was and
Still is a personal friend of the Yarbrough family.
He new LeeRoy very well. His father was like a father to LeeRoy.
Not done yet. Amazing how many different cars LeeRoy drove in a short period of time.!!!!

Beautiful build. We don't see too many of these Chargers built into race cars. Very nice!

The “under construction “ photo is actually the Sam McQuagg car.
My sister & her future husband were at that 66 Firecracker 400 race.
He was a big Ford fan.
From what I have read, those chargers (and Plymouths) were very safe
Well built cars.

Yes didn’t see alot of these Chargers on the track. And even fewer built up
As models. But the Revell model has good detail. Used the stock frame on this one.
They are a bit of a pain to turn the “stock” model into a race car. Lots of fender work that doesn’t really show in the pictures to get the tires to fit.
Did this model as a car that would run on tracks other that Daytona (no side
Windows).
Also try to make the roll cage fit the interior. If I get it near correct it hardly shows in the pictures. So many models posted look great except for the big
Gaps in the roll bars.
Model has a lot of interior and chassis detail. Again doesn’t show in the
IPhone photos.
Much prefer building modified & late model sportsman cars.

Friend in New York does the decals. I send him the measurements & pictures
And he does the rest.
Not the quality of “Yesterday’s” decals, but still very good And easy to use.
