The Petty Plymouth is a close second, but the 68, 69 & 70 Dodge Chargers
Are for sure #1(my opinion). And the Charger 500 is top.
Saw Bobby Isaac win the Beltsville 300 in the 1970 Harry Hyde 70 Charger. That car looked so cool and was the class of the field. Richard Petty was there with his arm in a sling as a result of the Darlington crash. But no #43 in the field. |

Gentlemen, hard not to support your choices. Both cars are fabulous!
1970 +/- 2 is rich with beautiful cars. They still looked like cars, big block engines and all.
Like these 2 beauties for example:

For me the most beautiful Stockcar is the 1971 Mercury Cyclone.
I like it with any sponsoring, like Purolator, Carling. Terminal Transport...
But this one is my all time favorite (and it´s actually without sponsoring) :

No pics here, but IMHO any race car from any series that is pre-computer tech is better looking than anything current! |

Yeah, the Mercury cars of the early-mid '70s are easy on the eye. Like this impossibly beautiful beast:

Quite a few of the early 1970's NASCAR cars catch my eye:
1971 Mercury Cyclone, 1971 Plymouth GTX / Satellite, 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo, 1973 Dodge Charger, 1973 Ford Torino Fastback, 1974 AMC Matador, 1975 Chevy Laguna S-3, 1977 Oldsmobile 442.
All these cars looked FAST just sitting on pit road, especially in Superspeedway dress. |

Having seen wing cars racing in 1970, I vote for them. |
