started this one earlier this year when i got the decals and didn't do much besides the top wing. decided to wrap it up and got going...
Revell kit. Ace decals. wheel covers courtesy of CustomDirtCars on Shapeways. tube, rod ends, nuts, washers, and bolts for the drag link and pittman arm (steering components for those who don't know sprint car lingo ) from RB Motion. Left rear hub, pittman arm, front torsion bars, and rock screen from Dirt Modeler.
i added misc. body panels (below the right side header and to the left of the top hoop. added and extra bar to the nerfs. modified front and rear push bars. wing supports made from Evergreen rod.
paints were Tamiya TS 96 fluorescent orange and TS 44 brilliant blue plus dullcoat on both along with TS 29 semi-gloss black. flat black for everything else that isn't a body panel, along with various metallics, mostly Tamiya AS 12 bare metal silver.
i tried to use some vacu-formed body panels and hood from SWS Chassis but, as he says, they are molded for his chassis and won't achieve a satisfactory fit on a factory kit. the only gripe i have about this kit, after the Revell re-tool, is they shoulda made different front tires with a more accurate tread pattern. i have some resin ones from The Parts Box that are accurate but the kit wheels won't fit and i wasn't going to waste those wheels on a build that has both fronts covered up.
didn't turn out too bad in my eyes... _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

That looks great... I wish I'd have picked up more of these kits when they were available. I hear Revell is going to produce more though, I hope. |

Thanks
I am glad that i bought up the last few that Mike’s had at a lower price, the next batch went up a bit… when he still had them.
Ace is showing a Kyle Larson sheet and a Brad Sweet sheet as coming soon. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

Thanks for the positive comments.
Here is a pic of me, Sheldon and said car from the first night of the Ironman 55 weekend this past August. Sheldon pretty much ruled the weekend, sweeping the features. If anyone notices my shirt… I wore the wrong NOS sponsored driver…

Just a FYI for the sprint car builders out there, the Brad Sweet and Kyle Larson sheets are available from the Ace Decals website. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

Got my Larson and Sweet decal sheets… the Larson sheet is pretty basic, not a lot going on, but the Sweet sheet is…. FREAKIN’ SWEET!
Just waiting on some stuff from SWS Chassis before i start the Sweet build. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...
