This is actually the second time I've attempted to build this car. When I first started out, I painted a body blue for his regular 1991 car, but then got the Coast Guard decals from JNJ and decided to apply them instead...big mistake, because I didn't do any research. It turned out that the Coast Guard car was not the same shade of blue. That original body is still in my stash, but this one is much, much better. Not only have my skills improved significantly since 2004/05, in the interim Powerslide issued a MUCH better sheet than the JNJ sheet and that's what I used on this build.

My plan is to eventually build all 5 of the military cars that raced in the 1991 Daytona 500, but this is the first and as yet only one I've completed.

Monogram kit, Powerslide decals, Tamiya French Blue paint.

I had never gotten as far as doing the windows on my original body, so I still had the JNJ pit order numbers in my decal parts box. Since the build requires two of them and Powerslide only gives you one, I used the original JNJ numbers as a little nod to my own modeling history; to determine which numbers to use I had to watch the 1991 Daytona 500 on YouTube to see if they explained how the numbers worked, and they did. (it went odds-and-evens based on your qualifying results)
